Due to the investigative nature of the Dark Heresy setting the players will meet a lot of different people. Some NPCS are innocent, most are downright evil - putting a face to a name helps players remember who is who and it allows me to play on their prejudices as to who "looks" trustworthy or not. The NPCs come from a variety of published material. If you are a player, you might inadvertently stumble onto a spolier. You've been warned. If you are a GM please feel free to steal whatever you like
Inquisitor Soldevan
Inquisitor Soldevan is a handsome man with the skin the colour of pale ebony and a taste in imposing military dress uniforms that only enhance his air of strength and authority. Rejuve treatments have kept him looking mid-40s, but he is certainly older than a century. His half-lidded eyes are cold and never quite seem to smile, regardless of his expression.
Soldevan was an interrogator for one of the most Puritanical quick-to-punish Inquisitors, the Witchfinder Rykehuss. Rykehuss is well-known for his Court of Ordeals, where pious citizens brought accused neighbours and family to be tried. If any heresy was discovered, whole city blocks or cities themselves were sometimes razed. Soldevan split with Rykehuss soon after attaining his inqusitorial seal as he didn’t agree with his master’s extreme methods. He believes that knowledge, not wanton destruction, is the key to protecting humanity. Soldevan applied to the Ordo Malleus, but wasn’t accepted. Some say Rykehuss pulled a few strings, others say that working for Rykehuss affected Soldevan’s chances.

Lost bugged cognomon and performed questionable psychic healing, but did stop the Crow Father from possessing Aristarchus.
Interrogator Anthenus Scabs
The man is bald, tattooed and almost toothless. He skin looks about 70, although his frame suggests someone quite stocky and well-built. He wears large goggle spectacles with glowing red lenses that magnify his eyes - which constantly flick over every detail. Half his face and neck and the back of his right hand are all badly scabbed. Some edges are flaking off, some have already peeled, others look red and swollen. It is clear that his whole body must be similarly damaged. His eyes flick over each of you and then looks down at the dataslate in his hand. His voice reverberates in his chest as if he smoke 50 lho-sticks a day.

Mostly irritated with group. Doesn't share his master's optimism for their performance and is just waiting for them to mess up. This is due, in part, to him missing being out in the field due to his many injuries.
Rogue Inquisitor Titus (aka Captain Shadrack; aka Brother Quintos)
Rogue Inquisitor Titus is a powerful psyker who can warp his flesh to appear to be other people perfectly. He has had two forms the Acolytes have met (and are aware of) before presenting this as his true form. Those being Brother Quintos (who stole the Ecclesiarchy scrolls from Abbot Skae on Iocanthus) and Captain Shadrack (the Captain of the sky skip Cygnan Martyr that was transport from Solomon's mainland to the Burning Isle and the House of Dust and Ash).
The Dark Horizon and her crew are his agents.
He is working directly against Inquisitor Soldevan, whom he suspects having dealings with demonic forces to learn about the Komus Star for the Tyrantine Cabal. He believes adamantly that Soldevan has gone too far and intends going further which endangers not only the Ordos, but humanity within the Calixis Sector itself.
He has asked the Acolytes whether they will be his shadow agents.
